Committees

We have a variety of committees whose job can be loosely divided up into two categories - those that make the money and those that spend it.  We are always looking for volunteers to serve on these committees or help out at their events.  If you'd like to volunteer, please email info [at] sges-ptg [dot] org.

Making Money

  • Bookfair - (March) Purchase books for family/teachers/friends.  Benefits the library.
  • Box Tops for Education - Process and mail in box tops from participating products to earn money for the school.
  • Capri Sun Drink Pouches - Process and mail in Capri Sun juice pouches to earn money for the school.
  • Cookie Dough and More - (November) Order/sell cookie dough and other treats.
  • Gift Cards - (November) Order gift cards as holiday gifts for friends and family!
  • Octoberfest - A day filled with rides/games/food/raffles/fun!  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year.
  • Original Works - (March/April) Order items with your child's art on them, benefits the Art program.
  • Rotini Supper - (February) Come enjoy our family/community dinner with entertainment.
  • School Spirit Sales - Purchase items featuring the SGES logo (and Smencils!) during school year to benefit physical education.
  • Stop & Shop Cards - Sell S&S cards to people to earn money for SGES all year long.
  • Wreath Sale - (December) Order/sell fresh holiday wreaths, benefits the Music Program

Spending Money

  • AVID Committee - A program that has been adopted by SGES to teach students accepting, valuing, including, differences in others.
  • Children's Publishing Center Committee - Come in a few hours a week/month and read stories with the children that they wrote and type/bind them into a book.
  • Classroom Book Donation Program - At the end of the school year, each class donates a book to the library.
  • Enrichment Committee - Field trips and in-school programs that relate to the curriculum that are provided to the students.
  • Hospitality Committee - Are you available to cook/bake once or twice during the school year?  Join this committee and help welcome people to each PTG meeting and other events with your goodies.
  • Library Book Drive - SGES Families past and present have an opportunity to purchase a book for donation to the school library.
  • Memory Book Committee - Help design and create this year's memory book for SGES
  • Publicity Committee - Take photos of school functions and provide newspaper with what is going on in our schools.
  • Room Parent Committee - Help your room parent purchase goods, help with an activity and/or a craft for a class party, go on a field trip with your child's class, or help with other events in the classroom. Each classroom has its own set of room parents.
  • School Beautification Committee - Do you love to garden?  Adopt one of our school gardens and be the caretaker for this school year.
  • School Banking Committee - Donate 1 hour on any Thursday afternoon and/or Friday morning at SGES and help the students work the bank.
  • Teacher Appreciation Week - (May) Help plan and coordinate special activities to show our teachers how much they mean to us and our children.
